For over 2 decades, PV Energy Systems has been tracking all events in the photovoltaic solar energy conversion industry. Each year since 1981, we have performed a survey of all producers of photovoltaic cells and modules, then published the results in the February issue of PV NEWS. PV Energy Systems also conducts an annual phone survey of most US PV systems integration companies, as well as the principal distributors of PV components and systems. In addition to reporting on the yearly status of the international and domestic photovoltaic industry, PV NEWS (now entering its 22nd year of publication) also summarizes the latest events of the industry through its monthly distribution. The culmination of this massive data and information gathering process has been the basic report, "Photovoltaic Technology, Performance, Cost and Market." Beginning in 1985, PV Energy Systems issued our first comprehensive analysis, summary, and forecast of the world photovoltaic industry: "Photovoltaic Technology, Performance, Cost and Market Forecast: 1975-2010." In early 1999, we decided to divide the report into two expanded reports in order to provide more timely and detailed analysis of the photovoltaic market and industry. This report, "The World Photovoltaic Market 1975-2001" is the first of the two reports. The second is titled "Photovoltaic Technology, Performance, and Cost 1995-2010." Both reports include timely topical studies and are fully updated annually. We hope you find these reports useful and convenient for evaluating the world PV market.
